Meet The Team

  • Susan M. KrogerSusan M. Kroger, CFP®, CDFA®, FTCA
    Co-founder and financial advisor

Susan first showed interest in the world of finance when she started balancing her parents' checkbook in the 3rd grade.  Even at that age, she was already more interested in saving money than spending it.  She decided to become a financial advisor when she saw how the cost of care for her grandmother with dementia impacted her family.  They were forced to make difficult decisions when they started spending their retirement savings to care for her.

Five years into her career as a financial advisor, the unthinkable happened and Susan became a widow at the age of 40.   She had been talking to people for years about protecting themselves in case life took an unexpected turn.  The knowledge she gained as an advisor helped her through this difficult period.  It made her more determined to share her knowledge with others, especially women going through a life transition.

Susan is the owner of Intentional Finance, LLC, an Independent Registered Investment Adviser (RIA).  She focuses on working with women in transition who are recently widowed, divorced or going through a divorce.  In these situations, people often experience “brain fog” and find it very difficult to make decisions.  Susan helps educate them about their options, so they have confidence in the financial decisions they are making for themselves and their families.  She also enjoys working with couples who want to ensure they are both educated when it comes to their finances, in case something unexpected happens.  By working closely with her clients Susan helps them shift their focus from short-term worries to long-term strategies.

    Education and professional designations

Susan earned her MBA from the University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business and got her bachelor’s degree in International Business with a minor in broadcast media from Oregon State University.  While at Oregon State she spent a year abroad at the Institute of Technology in Sydney.

As a CFP® Susan works with clients to create a comprehensive long-term financial plan that encompasses wealth management, risk management, long-term care planning, estate planning, and many other areas.  As a CDFA® she helps clients understand the financial implications of their divorce and to develop strategies which allow them to move confidently through this transition.

Susan has been fortunate enough to live in several states as well as Australia and Hong Kong.  She enjoys traveling and spending time with friends and family located all over the country.  Susan is an active member of the Rotary Club of Albuquerque and a past board member of the Albuquerque Rotary Charitable Foundation.  She also supports several other charities including Canine Companions and the Domestic Violence Resource Center of Albuquerque.
